New Athlete Guide: Training for The Tactical Nation

In this post we take our athletes through suggested Physical Abilities for each division in 2025. ALL are achievable no matter which division you choose.

Our launch on 01 December 2024 marks over 5 months to spend time training and getting your preparation done right. In January 2025 we will be launching the Tactical Nation app which will provide our athletes the chance to get training advice, programs and eat plans right in the palm of your hand, on your computer and even on your Smart TV. 

See the below as a target, not a barrier to entry. Remember the Tactical Nation is about creating the perfect balance of physical fitness and precision marksmanship and no discipline supersedes the other or plays a more important role.

The divisions for The Tactical Nation events in 2025 are: Mens and Women's Intermediate, Mens Warrior, Mens Masters 40+ and Women's Team Division. 

A target recommended level of fitness is listed for each division below.

1. MENS INTERMEDIATE

RUN - 3km Max

Sub 8 Minute Kilometre in Full Kit.

Sub 6.45 min per kilometre free of kit.

WEIGHT

Ability to move a 65kg sandbag

(pull, drag, lift to waist height)

Perform tasks with odd objects weighing 20-60kg for a duration of 8-12 min consistently.

Generally in good physical condition.

This is a a division that is the 1st Tier in the USA and does require a bit of physical fitness.

Burpee Options if tasks cannot be completed.

2. MENS WARRIOR DIVISION

Suggested Physical Abilities:

RUN - Up to 5km

Sub 7 Minute Kilometre in Full Kit.

Sub 6.30 min per kilometre free.

WEIGHT

1. Ability to move a 65kg sandbag

(pull, drag, lift to waist height).

2. Perform tasks with odd objects weighing 20-60kg for a duration of 8-12 min consistently.

3. Ability to perform more complex functional fitness exercises like rope climbing.

4. Generally in good physical condition with above average fitness levels.

This is a a division that is based on the Tactical Division in the USA and does require a decent level of fitness.

Tasks must be completed. We need to get tough on you to prepare you and push you to achieve greatness.

3. MENS MASTERS DIVISION 40+ YEARS OF AGE

Suggested Physical Abilities:

RUN - Up to 3KM continuously

Sub 8 Minute Kilometre in Full Kit

Sub 6.45 min per kilometre.

WEIGHTS

Ability to move a 75kg sandbag (pull, drag, lift to waist height).

Perform tasks with odd objects weighing 20-60kg for a duration of 8-12 min consistently.

Generally in good physical condition.

The Masters division takes into account that as father time catches up with us we may find endurance levels wane and we not as flexible as we could be.

The stages and tasks reflect this and we believe that focusing more on strength exercises and functional exercises that are easier on the joints creates a great competitive division that will see our Men get off the couch and rekindling that competitive spirit.

4. WOMENS INTERMEDIATE DIVISION

Suggested Physical Abilities:

RUN - Up To 3KM

Sub 8 Minute Kilometre in Full Kit

Sub 7 min per kilometre free.

WEIGHTS

Ability to move a 50kg sandbag

(pull, drag, lift to waist height).

Perform tasks with odd objects weighing 10-40kg for a duration of 8-12 min consistently.

A reasonable level of fitness is advised

5. WOMENS TEAM DIVISION

If you not feeling comfortable to compete alone we have the option of competing in the Women's Team event.

So grab your girlfriend and let's get competing.

For 2025 the team event will only need one of the members to have their SAPS competency certificate and if you have not yet purchased a firearm or are still waiting on your licence we have our rental firearms available.
